COLUMBIA COUNTY, Sixty-seven new businesses registered addresses in Columbia County in September, from a Chinese restaurant in St. Helens to a mushroom farm in Vernonia to a dumpster company in Clatskanie, according to the Oregon Secretary of State’s business registry.
That’s up from 48 in September 2025, and down from 74 in August. Scappoose led the county with 21 registrations, followed by St. Helens with 14, Rainier and Clatskanie with seven each, Warren and Columbia City with four each, Vernonia and Deer Island with three each, and Birkenfeld with two.
A registration is a filing with the state, not an opening. Some of these businesses were already operating but are now under new names or structures, some are holding companies for property, and some may never open a door. Forty-three are domestic limited liability companies, 22 are assumed business names and two, Genesi, Inc. in St. Helens and Pro RV Co. in Scappoose, are domestic business corporations.
The names hint at what’s coming. Scappoose added an RV dealer and service center, an aquaculture company, a livestock operation, an aviation business, a construction company, a care home and a bakery. St. Helens added a restaurant, an auto detailer, a coin exchange and a pet grooming business. Clatskanie added two farms, a youth arts company and an assisted living and memory care business. Rainier picked up an HVAC contractor and the assumed business names for United Way of Columbia County and United Way of Clatsop County.

Two records were excluded: one listed Prescott with an Arizona ZIP code, and one listed Westport, which is in Clatsop County. Names appear as registered.
